Pumpkin Carving Block Party
This year for our annual pumpkin carving contest, I thought I would invite a couple more people to make it more fun. I invited a couple (that means two) neighborhood kids, my cousin and of course Lee's girls. Little did I know, word got around and at 4 pm I looked down the road and saw an avalanche of children ranging from 3 - 13 years old on bikes, trikes, and scooters headed for my humble abode. What was supposed to be a fun, low key get-together turned into a block party.
Four pizzas, a case of soda, and 2 packs of hot dogs later, I had about 10 children in my back porch carving pumpkins. There was alot of noise, fighting, arguing, tears, and bloody fingers but we also had alot of laughs and excitement somewhere in between. Not too sure if it'll happen again next year but this year was definitely one for the books! Mom says it'll be like giving birth, I'll forget the pain and want to do it again!
P.S - Lee & Leeana's pumpkin won the contest. What really amazes me is the level of detail they accomplished amidst the chaos!
Lee&Leeana's - House/bat, Jade's - Spider, Me& Lauryn - Skull

Where Oh Where Has the Time Gone?
Every once in a while I go through some old picture albums and everytime it astounds me to see how young the girls once where. I remember every shot as if it were taken yesterday. When I met them, Lauryn was still wearing pull-ups for those nightime accidents and Leeana was at least 2 feet shorter. Now, Lauryn's a woman, and Leeana's learning to drive. It seems like every time we see them, they've matured, changed, or grown in some way, shape or form. Where has time gone? Where have the last 5 years flown to?

My 28th Birthday
Oh how time flies, I tell you. I remember turning 18 like it was 45 minutes ago, but before I knew it my 28th year of life was upon me. And it was a wonderful day! For those who know me, my birthday celebrations begin September 1 and last for 30 days. It's 30 days of what I want and treating myself in every little or big way. Nothing though compares to September 23rd!
The night before Lee teased me with "Oh, you're gonna love your birthday present...it's nothing you'll ever expect...just wait till you see it!" So I woke up bright and early on the auspicious day ready to receive what's in store for me. And let me tell you, it was a moment to behold. There's nothing like opening your eyes to the most amazing color you'll never see. That trademark color that just makes your heart stop. The Tiffany Blue Green!!! After the initial screaming and "OMG NO WAYY!!!" I unwrapped the perfectly and professionally wrapped ribbon box to see the Tiffany 1837 Charm Bracelet! Such a surprise! And Lee was right. If I knew before, I would never let him buy it for me!
We both had 2 days off in celebration, so we headed to the beach for a perfect day. We drank beers, listened to country music and laid out for 5 hours on the deserted beach. Lee's such great company...if you've never had his company, I highly suggest it! We headed home because we had dinner reservations with Marsha & Nicholas, who also shares the same birthday. How perfect can it be! We met up Kristin & Ely at Kobe's and enjoyed our dinner, shots, sushi until the bill came! I could have bought a small country for what we spent for chinese food that my parents could cook better BLIND. But it was a good time still!
All in all, it was a perfect day and I can't believe it's going to be another 365 days until my next one. I might want it to come a little more slowly this time because the years are flying by way too quickly!

Carnival 2k11 Preparations
It has begun! Carnival 2011 preparations. Costume - check! Flight - check! Excitement, carnival fever, anticipation - check! check! check! It's really hard to describe this feeling and if you're not a Trinidadian, you might not even get it. But this is part of the fun for me. Preparing, waiting, organizing for the big event. In 2011, we're gonna have a big crew playing together and I don't think I can last the next 7 months! I can't wait to see old friends, get drunk and dance haphazardly in the streets under the blazing sun half naked. Oh, the euphoria! This is the costume Lee & I are going to be in and the process for finding accessories is in full swing. What makes it even more special is that my best two friends and I are playing together again. The last time we did was 2006? 2005? Way too long an d next year is going to be the best Carnival ever!

Fantabulous Weekend
Memorial Day weekend rolled around again and it was another one to remember. The Prados, Lee & I hauled off to Siesta Key, Sarasota. The weather was phenomenal and the beach was amazing. I had my first ride on a jet-ski and lets just say it was my first and last time. I was scared out of my pants and gripped lee for dear life. I begged him to take me back SLOWLY! Our hotel was much to be desired, but as I told Lee - You get what you pay for. It wasn't the Ritz but we could have done without the hookers loafing about! Note to self - never book a place where the street name is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Lee had to drag me back on Monday cause I was ready to hitch a tent and live on the beach forever.
P.S. - I'll never look at Subway the same again!
