Pumpkin Carving Block Party

This year for our annual pumpkin carving contest, I thought I would invite a couple more people to make it more fun. I invited a couple (that means two) neighborhood kids, my cousin and of course Lee's girls. Little did I know, word got around and at 4 pm I looked down the road and saw an avalanche of children ranging from 3 - 13 years old on bikes, trikes, and scooters headed for my humble abode. What was supposed to be a fun, low key get-together turned into a block party.

Four pizzas, a case of soda, and 2 packs of hot dogs later, I had about 10 children in my back porch carving pumpkins. There was alot of noise, fighting, arguing, tears, and bloody fingers but we also had alot of laughs and excitement somewhere in between. Not too sure if it'll happen again next year but this year was definitely one for the books! Mom says it'll be like giving birth, I'll forget the pain and want to do it again!

P.S - Lee & Leeana's pumpkin won the contest. What really amazes me is the level of detail they accomplished amidst the chaos!

Where Oh Where Has the Time Gone?

Every once in a while I go through some old picture albums and everytime it astounds me to see how young the girls once where. I remember every shot as if it were taken yesterday. When I met them, Lauryn was still wearing pull-ups for those nightime accidents and Leeana was at least 2 feet shorter. Now, Lauryn's a woman, and Leeana's learning to drive. It seems like every time we see them, they've matured, changed, or grown in some way, shape or form. Where has time gone? Where have the last 5 years flown to?
