My Birthday Month

Call it self-idolization or idleness, but the month of September is the most auspicious and happiest month of my entire year. My birthday is on September 23rd and everyday leading up to that date until the end of September is a day of self indulgement. No holds, I do what I want, get what I want, and spoil myself limitlessly. It's a beautiful thing and I highly suggest it to anybody for their birthday month.

I love the actual day itself and this year was no exception. Lee and I both took the day off and first things first - sleep in, which to us is until 7:30am. Lee had some important errands to attend to, so I took the first half of the day to make a serious dent into my new book he got me; It's Dan Brown's new novel - The Lost Symbol. Since The DaVinci Code, I've been hooked on him. My book reading was interrupted by my parents calling to wish my Happy Birthday! Of course my mother had to re-live the exact moment 27 years ago, how she was so scared for the Cesarean section because I was a breached baby, how I caused her so much pain (and still am), how I would only sleep on her belly and how much I cried! She never fails to remind us of our actual birth-day every year. It's tradition!

Lee got home and we went for a "light" lunch. We went to our favorite spanish food restaurant on Orange Blossom Trail. We always forget how big their servings are and always end up so full with beans and rice and pork!We planned to go do the tourist thing on International Drive, but it was way to hot and we were way to full to even entertain that idea! After rolling ourselves out the restaurant we ended up in the Florida Mall walking off lunch. We went back home for a rest and around 7 pm we went for a couple drinks. We still couldn't eat dinner because of our lunch time gorging but it was a nice end to a great day.

The only downfall is that taking the day off during the week makes the rest of the week harder. It feels like it should be Friday, but we're actually still one more day away from the weekend. Another gift I got from Lee was a pair of Coach sunglasses that I've been eyeing since the beginning of my birthday month.
The weekend prior to my birthday my friend Kristin had us all over for dinner. I love when people cook for me! It's such a change from my own hand. She made beans and rice Spanish style, chicken and of course we had cake. Still trying to work off the overload of carbs this month!

Now that my month's winding down, I'm enjoying the rest of it to the fullest. Time flies by so fast I'm sure September would be here again and I will be another year older and wiser (fingers crossed!!)
